We had a warning from a property in Beechway where the owner was digging a hole and in his words found the soil ‘running away from him’. This was close to where the original cellars are located.
Exploring the tunnel, we were able to progress the entire length of the eastern aspect of the Georgian Hall. What was the tunnel for? After much discussion, it was found that the space around the foundation walls was a ‘dry area’ to prevent damp passing through to the interior.
